best replaceable speakers

as we all know, our stock speakers suck. i want to add a little more sound-bass/treble to the car. what are the best components for our cars. i dont want subs or an aftermarket HU. i wanna stay all stock except for speakers or tweeters. any help, i would appreciate it.

thanks

well your best option is to buy the nice bostons and then amp them.... that would probably cost the average person about 1500.

but there are a lot of other options, you didnt mention if you wanted to run an outboard amp.... that will make the price, and sq, go up...

the stock speakers run at 2 ohms, and are already amped by the weak ass bose stuff.

so if you amp them any more than they aleady are you will prolly blow them, your best bet is to get a new HU and speakers or speakers and an amp, or all three, but you mentioned you didnt want a new hu, may i ask why?

cause i want to keep the interior stock. and plus, i dont even think theirs any head units out there that will blend in with the rest of the interior.

so i get new componants and amp, im looking at at least 500 correct.

1500 seems a bit high. Those would be some VERY VERY nice speakers if 6x9, and 5 1/4 + comps in the front with a few hundred watt amp was 1500 bucks...wow...that shit better sound good. I would say with speakers and an amp you are lookin at about 750 for some pretty damn good speakers and maybe a 300 watt amp or so. Then again i havn't priced audio in awhile maybe i'm wrong....

If your talking about the 2001 + they have 6.5 inch in front with a 1 inch tweeter and the rears are 6 x 9s. Some places to check out would be tweeter, abt electronics, autosound in palatine, etc.

perhaps you are right....

my thought process was something like

6x9's = 120
5.25 / 6.5 's = 200
4 x 100 amp = 300
shipping = 50
wires = 50
install = i didnt really know, i donthave these things installed for me... so i kinda rounded up

my plans for components (after my bday in 2 weeks) are

Audiobahn 3-way 6x9's
Audiobahn 6.5 carbon components
2 100x2 Audiobahn Intake amps

which will set me back about 450 with shipping.

and a ton of installing hours, so i hear.

am i better off just putting my subs in then and doing some type of custom job hiding them. i just cant believe these cars came with nothing. i mean, my moms 97 monte sounds like it has subs in it compared to mine.
