Suggestion - just did one last week - and if you are doing this already, good deal On the bottom, cut a piece of 3/4" MDF to fit in the general area on the floor and glass right to it - this way, you can screw the box into the floor before you put the sub in so it's nice and secure - unless you were doing it another way of course Looking good so far though!

idk i was gonna use the little nook on the bottom for helping it stay in place. with velcro on the back ifigured it won't go any where. i just hope the tape holds it didn't seem to be sticking too well. worst comes to worst i'll do it again.

on the price id charge for one of these? idk let me finish doing this one. i have enough material to do several so its an option. but im sure its going to be some what pricey. around 250 or so.

Sorry to hijack the thread, but that is EXACTLY what I want for my TSX. Would you be willing and what would you charge to build one of those and ship it to me?

We do 3 layers before we pull it out to finish it - OR, you could do one layer and then use FLEECE and be done.

heres the rest of the pics....

out of the car and most the tape removed

and heres some imperfections im gonna have to grind out and redo...

will probably make another layer or two tomorrow and i think that might do it. we shall see though...

i have to figure out a better way to dispense this stuff. it makes such a mess.

I'd suggest that after you add another layer or two, add another, and then maybe one more. I made my first (and so far only) glass box a few months ago and it seemed pretty damn rigid at about the stage you're at (six layers I think), but after I dropped the sub in, I found that the box does vibrate a bit. Not bad, not audible, but you can feel it if you put your hand on it and that's a loss of power, never seen that with my previous MDF boxes. Considering what a pain in the ass it is, the material cost compared to the time & effort is minimal, the thicker the better, you can't overbuild - or in any event it's better than rebuilding which I'm not looking forward too...

yea i originally thought 9 layers but 6 is looking to be the goal. i think with that first layer i used too much resin hence the dark spots so i can't do that again. i don't have a problem getting it onto the glass actually dispensing from the gal bucket is the problem. im using a yogurt tub and dishing it into another tub 12 ounces at a time. the 12 ounces seems to be the sweet spot at using it all before it gels.

Also - just another suggestion for the future if you do it again - before you lay the glass, take a sharpie and draw the approximate opening on the tape that you want to cut later on - you can see it through the glass and it will just save time when you go to trim

the house did smell like fiberglass. i had to bring it in to cure cause it was too cold in the garage.

i did mark where i wanted it to be but i didn't have a sharpie so i had a highlighter. and i kinda precut all the peices before i started so the size was pretty much right on.

thanks i will keep you guys posted
