Basslink Installation

I went to a couple of shops and they both wanted $150.00 and up to do the installation. One place said I need some kind of converter. I am going to buy one of those wire kits from Best Buy or Circuit City and try to install it myself.

I want to know if anyone can supply me with a step by step instruction (pics will also be greatly appreciated). I also have several questions:

1. Do I need to remove the rear seat, door sill and etc. to run
the cables?
2. What is the best way to do the hook up for clean sound?

I got mine installed for $75 a few weeks ago, ask around to other shops they can install it for that price. Location of the sub is very important, mine is actually installed in the right /rear of my truck. Not in the front like most people, location is what makes it sound so good.

Smitty,

Did they use a converter for the install? Did they hide all the cables and wires? Did they remove the rear seat?

I had the shop that did my tint just splice some RCA's into the signal wire coming from the head unit. This signal is already line level, so no converter is used. From there it goes to the basslink. I ran the power wire, & turn on lead to the fuse box. I used the ground that is in Silverknights audio FAQ. It's a bolt under the trunk carpet by the rear seat back. These wires run under the carpet on the drivers side of the car. All that's need is to pry up the door sill, some of the rear molding, & the bottom seat cushions. These cushions just pull straight up. It takes a good tug, but they only clip in. You can find the locations on the firewall to run the power cable to the battery in Silverknights audio insturctions in the FAQ. It's up near the top of the gas pedal. You can use a converter if the shop, or you don't eant to splice the signal wire. The way mine is, I get no noise at all, clean signal, & enough signal to the Basslink amp.
