Basslink Install Question

I have a 01 CL-S, I've searched and read/printed all the instructions on install. I got my basslink in the mail today. I have a couple of questions
I want to do the line-level input before the amp as was suggested. When I was at bestbuy today buying the power wire, the guy got me to buy a AULOC (Adjustible Line Output Converter) from install edge, instead of splicing one of the ends off of the RCA cables. From doing some reading on here it seems the LOC is used for speaker level inputs? Should I return it and just cut a RCA cable? Can I use it if I have it already and just keep the adjustable gain on it low or something. My first car stereo project so keep it simple.

Thanks

Mike

You can do it either way. Really it's the same. On my 02 auto I spliced in the RCA's before the factory amp. On my 6 speed I used the LOC after the amp on the rear deck speakers. Actually I prefer the LOC becasue of the adjustable gain. I also feel it was an easier install. When your splicing those RCA plugs the wires are really thin & hard to work with.
