Exclamation Bass Output Problem

OK...well i recently got my 2 12" MB Quarts powered by an RAA1000 installed

All I can say is WOW this thing BUMPS...may be alittle too much but I can deal with it for now. May go down to a single 12 set up eventually.

There is a slight problem however...I took the car to Tweeter to install my amp and they told me when I picked it up that i cant turn my stereo off because there will be a constant output made by the stock headunit and the subs could blow. They showed me what they meant...after turning off the stereo a constant bass note plays untill the car is either turned off or the stereo is turned on again.

The installer told me I can only fix this with an aftermarket HU but Im sure there are plenty of people here who have the stock HU and subs in their TSX.

I did notice that if I turn down the remote bass knob and/or the HU bass knob the problem doesnt happen/isnt as loud.

Can anyone tell me whats going on here and if it can be fixed?

First of all, that shouldn't happen as far as i know. Second, ask the installer, if that were to happen in his car, would he jsut sit there and be content or would he make sure it doesnt happpen? I think someone f'd up somewhere in the install or maybe one of the connections isn't right goin' from like the headunit to the amp. This is just my novice analysis, but wait for a pro like Eldude, Scott P or SE to evaluate the situation.

well you better look for a refund or something, because 100's of people have gotten systems installed in their TSX's w/out a problem. If they can't do it right, that's their problem IMO

well, the only thing i can think of right now, would probably be, maybe they used the "signal sensing" option, if your amp has that, instead of using a remote-turn-on wire.

F!cking Tweeter.

They are using the Signal-sense turn on method on the amp. It is getting bass only from the R 6x9s and probably doesn't woprk right that way.

I betcha they did NOT find the real remote turn on wire in the car. Even though you are not getting the full amp rewire, they can still use the instructions on the DIY list here:

https://acurazine.com/forums/audio-video-electronics-navigation-22/instructions-install-shop-preamp-output-300209/

The 05s colors have changed- scroll down the thread and I believe they have been added to the thread. But I suspect that is your problem, and they need to switch the amp to standard remote turn on and grab the right wire.

First of all you went to Tweeter! That was your first mistake! I have heard nothing but horror stories about that place.

Second mistake, you didn't print out the directions from eldudes thread and take it to them huh? Shame on you!

ITweeter!

That was some straight that they tried to give you. Can't believe they would even think about leaving a customers car that way. Constant bass note playing when the car is off?! Morons!

not the car...just the stereo...when i shut the car off the amp gets cut..but yea...i was like WTF...but i couldnt say anythign bc i didnt know the facts

and about the going to Tweeter thing...my choices were 1. Tweeter, 2. Best Buy, 3. Circuit City...2 and 3 cant make me a box

I went to Tweeter for my last install (before i heard about the stories) and it worked out well...so i figured these stories were isolated incedents

This is my last time there though...from now on ill drive a ways to find a better place...plus they are sooo over priced

So what do you guys feel I should try to get refunded...the ENTIRE install (most unlikely), box, cables, amp install labor, box construction labor...that all adds up to about $275

or just amp install (probably will happen) $70?

Great! Glad that worked out. Now see if you can avoid them from here out: )

(I guess I was supposed to not be helpful and try to sell you something instead, but hey, I must not be too good at this Vendor thing: )
