Bass boost @ low volume

Bass boost @ low volume
OK, I'm finally getting rid of the stock amp and speakers. I have a few questions for those that have gone before me. Is the bass boost at low volume (I believe at around 50Hz) caused by the stock amp or the HU? If HU, has anyone found a way to eliminate it w/o an EQ unit? For those w/o EQ, is the boost highly noticeable? For those w/ EQs, any recommendations on quality units? Thanks guys.
