Bandpass Box
Bandpass Box
I currently have sealed box with 2 alpine type S 10s and trying to figure out how does it sound in a bandpass. I listen to rap and techno music so will bandpass be a good or bad thing.
Depends on what you're shooting for. Bandpass boxes pass a band, while a ported box will pass the whole 20Hz-300Hz+ band the subwoofer makes. The bandpass box may narrow the output band substantially. A good box will have a peak at around 45Hz or so (midband) and drop off in 20dB slopes below 15Hz and above about 100Hz. So if you're going low bass/SPL then get bandpass, otherwise get ported. And bandpass will take up more room...and will be more costly and more difficult to build (and easier to mess up by an unqualified builder).

I called up Alpine and they dont suggest a Bandpass for me, So now i need trunk space to and I currently had a type 2 sealed dual 10 enclosure and just bought a type 1 enclosure the bass is much tighter now. If anyone wants a dual 10 sub box wit 1.0 cuft internal volume and the box is blocked in the middle
