Avic-Z1 in TSX - questions

First off, has anyone successfully installed one in a TSX without nav?

The only way I would do it is if it could fit where the stock radio is now. Is it possible to install a double din deck there? Are there adapter plates made?

so den no aftermarket screen will ever fit into the stock hu ever den huh ?
so reach the onli thing your sayin will ever work is if i put it in the storage compartment underneath the stock hu But den theres no point in doin that because either the aftermarket screen will be useless besides for navi and dvd options and bluetooth and the rearview option but other den that it will be useless for music options because the stock hu will be covering that along with xm radio and cds and such so i dont understand what is the point in doing that because i too was thinkin about puttin something in the storage compartment wen i first got my car but den that wouldnt make alot of sense i mean it does look nice as ive seen in someone elses post but i think its kinda stupid because den the stock hu is just like a wasted piece of space no ? and on another post there was this guys that bought the car with no navi and put in the factory navi unit if thats possibly couldnt they put in my aftermarket navi in where the stock hu is ?
could you guys Plz clarify this up because i realli have to decide what to buy i have untill this weekend because this is a gift from someone and i have to let them kno or if it cant be fit in or if i have to get it in the storage compartment den im not even gonna bother gettin the screen no use

Christ man, speak English.

OK, I won't attempt this then. I'm getting a Z1 for my Vette, looked like a killer unit, and I'm looking to get a slightly used TSX as a daily driver. Not sure whether what year to get. Really the 5hp boost doesn't do anything for me (I have the LS2 for power), so the only feature that's worth anything is the Bluetooth. If I get an 04/05 with Navi, how hard is it to add Bluetooth?

Yeah I decided not to attempt to answer that other post too.

04/05, there is no way to add the stock bluetooth. You need an 06/07 for that feature.

Hold out for the Avic D3. Its gonna be better and cheaper, but hey, that's just my opinion.

Well, I'm not getting nav for the Vette for a few months at least, so I'll hold out and see how the D3 is.

What I was referring to was aftermarket bluetooth. I thought I saw someone do it in the smaller red storage area, but I don't remember where.

That's a REALLY NICE, quality job. It just still seems like its not going to match up perfectly. If you have to have a double din, i think that's about as good as it can be done though. The second one I've ever seen too.

Well done Cardiologist!

You know, paint matching perfectly, trim lines still looking good, continuity with the dash... I'd love to see it installed back in the car. Its still a sweet job tho.

The entire unit isn't up top - it's just the screen - I had a custom cable made that extends the screen 28" away from the main unit - the main unit gets mounted in the factory flip up door right below it - I attached the factory door to slide in and out when you hit eject (it mounted to the Z1 chassis so it works just like it did factory)
