check out the newest performance module that just came out i think you will be pretty impressed
ok here is the final and correct info on the AVIC N2. The gyro for the navigation controls the video. If you hit a certain mph (I was told 10 mph by pioneer, but i could see 3 mph beeing the cutoff) it will shut down video on the screen. The audio will still play and of course you will still be able to play video for rear screens. Due to the way this isintegrated into the gyro, Pioneer feels confident that there is no way to bypass this safety feature without ultimately losing the navigation. Also if you want the vehicle monitoring system or the xm traffic navigation it is going to cast a few hundred extra. If you have an Avic N1, and you update to the newest navigation discs it will update the gyro so that regardless of how you have wired it up, you will not be able to watch video while driving.
Well, that should protect them from the lawsuit.
I gotta give kudos to Pioneer (personally) - they decided what they thought the right thing to do was, and they're doing it. If you KNEW that a significant portion of your sales volume (for this unit) was coming from people watching TV while driving, and you knew you had the means to prevent that WHILE still allowing the unit to operate the way it does (ie., displaying video everywhere else), would YOU have the cojones to do so?
How many N2s will Pioneer sell now? Not nearly as many as N1s, I guarantee you. But from a corporate ethics perspective, I think they did the right thing.
Now if they'd stop lying with the "200W" door speakers... : )

Sad thing is I'm sure Pioneer will ultimately fold to the morons who feel the need to try and talk on the phone, watch tv, and whack off all while driving 110 down the highway.
