I have a question about installing a ground loop isolator (GLI). What does it do, how do you hook it up, and do i need one with any mp3 player, or only an iPod? Is it necssary if you have a power inverter? Thanks to anyone who can provide info.

 

You only need it if you are connecting the player to the car (to get power). You hook it up between the AUX RCAs and the player RCAs. It doesn't need power.

For an MP3 player, a cheap Radio Shack model will work fine in most cases. That's what I have for my setup. For a more extensive sound installation, you'll need a better brand/model.

The insulator helps stop the buzzing noise that an Aux input device might produce. It is a good idea to have one.
