Austin help
Iwas just out gettin prices on installtion on my amp and sub and everyone is givin me differ answers and prices casue of bose.
I was just reading a post that i made like a month ago "adding one sub" and you gave me all the directions to do it at home. All the audio places where saying i need like 2 converters and pac converters and stuff that i didnt even know about. I asked a friend about this and he said if I get a pac it will have a poping sound when i turn the system off, is that true. But i was thinking why would I need that my amp has the hi lo converter i just have to tap in a signal from a speaker. To tap the signal and remote on and off from the headunit what wires do i tap into and extend to my new amp. I am just gonna keep all the bose stuff in the car so if i sell it i dont want to go through puting the bose amp and sub back in, And jsut pull my system out. Since i am on a tight highschool budget heres my system One 12 Infinity reference (300wt RMS and 1200 peak) Us acoustics amp USX2100 i believe and I am getttin the 8 gauge wiring kit. And one more thing I had a 10inch infinty but i returned it casue well i got the 10 casue i was tight on space but later i learned that i can get a .88 cuft 12 box and fill it wit polyfill.
Thanx a bunch

"Remove your rear seat...find the wires feeding into the factory amp, a brown coated twisted pair of wires. Tap them with the wire taps and 16 gauge wire and put RCAs on the other end and run it to your amp. Tap the remote wire with the third tap (blue wire) and run it to your car's remote turn on." i got that from the link u sent me. Ok I have 3 wire taps
the 1st and 2nd tap go on the twisted brown wire and that goes to my amp lo input? and the 3rd tap goes on my remote turn on but where is the cars remote turn on, I thought it would go on the amps remote turn on place.
again this is my first system i am installing and after reading some of your replys i am gonna definetly do it at home
thanx again.
and 1.8 gpa was trying to be a computer engineer?????

Yes he was trying to be a computer engineer . It was a case of deciding not to go to class or do really anything for a full semester.
Yeah and you're right...you tap both wires in the twisted brown pair that feeds into your amp. It's a low level 1 channel signal, and you take those wires and stick an RCA on the end and plug it into your aftermarket amp. Then you tap the remote wire that feeds into your amp so that your amp turns on and off with the stereo. The car's remote turn on? I don't understand what you mean.
And yeah definitely do it at home, and good luck.

Austin,
Quick question on the RCA connections between the factory twisted brown cable and the new Amp. If I have a two-channel amp which has inputs for Left and Right, will it be ok if the single channel cable is fed to Left and Right inputs on the amp using a Y-cable ?
I plan to install the amp as well and I am currently still doing research on the sub.
Thanks and advance.

dnd2984,
I am getting Rockford Fosgate 200M. It is a small amp with mono output. I am not a heavy bass listener, so the 200W (@2 ohm) amp should have enough power for my need. For the sub, I am still researching either to put a box in the trunk or to fabricate the space where the stock amp is installed.
I will repost the results once I got it done.
Cheers !!!

It is easy...good luck

Yes, that is perfectly fine. You should have no problems with not enough signal going to either. And if you can, fabricating a space around the stock rear deck hole is the best solution for a sealed/ported setup, or a small bandpass box in the trunk firing through the rear deck...especially for a small setup like yours it will make a world of difference not having to go through the rear deck and rear wall.

Good point. That is definitely true on a lot of amps...because all you're doing is shifting the wave to match peak + and - amplitudes...however I have seen amps that do require the stereo input.

Brewboy,
I checked the manual for the Rockford Fosgate 200M and the wiring diagram shows it requires both left and right inputs to the amp. I will just follow the diagram to be on the safe side. .
I want to thank both Austin519 and Brewboy for the valueble information. Thanks all. :p
