What eggy said... How much do you want to spend, what do you listen to, what are you trying to achieve with the car?

How much space are you willing to give up in your trunk for the sub? Also, are you looking to replace the entire factory system? Or just add an amp/sub combo? Also, are you trying to get extremely loud with the bass, or just sound good. or what? For that money, you could get an extremely loud substage, with a pretty good sounding front stage...

this is a decent aftermarket deck
http://www.onlinecarstereo.com/CarAu...roductID=21642

Get some decent comps..for example
http://www.woofersetc.com/p6201/CTX6...ker-System.htm

this 2 ch amp
http://www.caraudiodeals.com/mb-quar...50-p-2253.html

single 10" fi q or ssa icon should be enough..possibly a dd1508 or re se

sub and amp should be the last thing you get.

OP, start off with a new hu, component speakers and an amp to power them. Also, when you run wire, plan for later upgrades, so buy larger wire than you're going to need. Also, it never hurts to have extra wire.

Good call... Some good 1/0 and Second skin Damplifier Pro should take care of those issues...

Speakers are a completely personal choice. They sound different to everyone and the sound you get is very install dependent. Your best bet is to go to a stereo shop and listen to some speakers there, then try to find those sets installed in cars, and listen to them since the sound in a sound wall and the sound of a set of speakers in a car are going to be completely different.

As for hu's, there are quite a few good brands out there. Personally, I like Pioneer and Alpine (in that order), but that's just me. Again, it's pretty much all personal choice depending on what features you want/need.

There are a lot of good amp manufacturers out there right now, but a personal favorite is Sundown. I know eggy will back me with that choice, they're some extremely solid amps. The one thing is that you have to pay for the quality you get.

For subs, look into companies like AA, Fi, RD, RE, AQ, DD, CD, DC, etc, rather than mainstream gear. You'll get much better results for the money. From that list, you get to narrow it down yourself, depending on what you need/power/space requirements.

My current system is in the middle of a makeover. Right now, I'm running Bravox Audio EXS6 mids in my doors with power from an RF Punch 450.4. Soon (as soon as my rainbow CAL-25's get here from Germany) I'll be running those with the Bravox active. No sub stage, since I sold my RD Alpha 12 and Orion 1200D amp. I was looking at a couple of AA Chaos 10's to run in a 4th order, but I couldn't get the money together, due to school starting back up.

Also, OP, where are you at in the country? Maybe someone can meet up with you and help out with the install. It'll help save you some money on the install, so you can get better gear...

Pics of my old setup are on Cardomain: http://www.cardomain.com/ride/2959759

Newer setup: https://acurazine.com/forums/audio-video-electronics-navigation-22/mattasticks-street-daily-build-log-722117/

Current setup: None... I'm in the rebuilding process, going to a couple 10s and a couple kws for next season. It should be pretty interesting.
