Audio setup (subs, amp questions inside)

Alright, just upgraded from the old 500X to the 300/4. Clean, crisp, more, modulated power is where it is at. To hell with Rockford Fosgate, I should have gone with JL from the start. The comps stay crisp now, even at high volumes, but they are drowning out the eclipse subs. Plus those subs only go to 26 or so Hz, and they are pushed by a POS fosgate. So what kind of amp/sub should I do? Cleanliness is key...I hate SPL cars, SQ is the way to do it. This setup is for me, no shows or anything, I want clean, tight, resposive bass, and I want it in a small space. What amp/sub(s) should I go to. The 87's use only 1 cube each and that is very nice. They are wired in parallel, so the amp sees 2 ohms and puts out 500 W RMS...figure 250 to each speaker, and they can take 300 RMS So would an amp do it, just subs do it, or are both limiting my deep response? I would like to stick with 10's for the space and my understanding that they are cleaner. But I am open to anything.

Also, what kind of wattage can the stock alternator deliver? I got about 800 W (RMS) running off of it now, and I would not like to have to get it rewound, but if I have to...

I have an Alpine CDA-7998 pushing the 300/4, running Diamond Audio HEX 6s, Eclipse Point Source in the rear. RF 500bd running 2 eclipse 87 series subs in a sealed enclosure.

It would seem so, but will just one give me what I want...that sub costs some serious coinage. I would probably need a new amp too since at 4 ohms that stupid RF amp only puts out 250 RMS.

Well, I went with the Boston 10.5 Pro LF (2)...that was cheaper than one W7, esp. since I already had the enclosure from the Eclipse subs. They sound great, especially after I upgraded the BD to the 500/1...I love those JL amps.
