If you are disconnecting at the sub, you are post-amp, specifically, post-Bose amp. Bose has a nasty habit of running anything but typical impedance (4 ohms) on their speakers. In my MX-5, the Bose amp runs at .5 ohms. Stupid.

The first point being that you are very likely to mismatch the impedance of the amp and your aftermarket sub, possibly causing damage. If you don't have damage, you probably won't get much sound at all since the Bose amp is not very powerful and is likely at 2 or less ohms.

First of all, welcome to the forum!

i HIGHLY recommend using a dedicated aftermarket amp to power the sub. when i installed my 12" Kicker L7, just for shits and giggles, i did exactly what you are asking. no sound came out of the sub. i now use a 1200W Sony Xplod amp.

You wouldnt be able to power a subwoofer(at least very well) with that, and as other people mentioned impedance issues.

Yea but quality and sony products should never be in the same sentence especially their amps so I think thats why he worded it the way he did lol. Yea and just get a nice mono amp. Hell they can be had brand new for $100, check out hifonics or audiopipe. Good low budget amps.

I would definetly not recomend you to do that remember that output for the stock sub in the rear deck was made for that stock bose sub no more watts are gonna come out from that radio just go get an aftermarket amp you will be better off and would get greater sound.
