Does anybody know how to make the stock radio in an acura tl 03 play mp3 files? Like those cd's with more that 20 songs? Is there an easy way or would I have to take out the unit and mess with it.

No way to make the HU read them. Only way is with a different aftermarket HU or get a ipod adapter and hook up an ipod

Use the search function..... here's a few links I found ... and then I got tired. Didn't read through all three of them, but they should help you.

https://acurazine.com/forums/showthr...highlight=mp3s

https://acurazine.com/forums/audio-video-electronics-navigation-22/cd-r-issue-my-stock-bose-system-347943/

https://acurazine.com/forums/showthr...&highlight=CDs

I've heard of a few different ways people have fixed this problem:

- Burning at slower speed
- Using a different type of CD
- Converting to an 02-03 headunit (apparently it's less problematic... or maybe you have an 02-03 already, in which case forget i said that)

If you have, or are going to get, an iPod, just get an iPod adapter that'll play your files through the stock headunit.

all your links do refer to burnt cds. and yes if you make a playlist in itunes or something usually its from mp3s. but itunes or w/e program you use (i prefer nero) CONVERTS the mp3s to cda format, so they take up a lot more room and you can only put like 20 songs on the disc. OP is asking about the headunit playing the mp3 files themselves, which are much smaller (so instead of 20 songs, you can put hundreds)

but im still going to have a look, because my 99 doesn't like burnt cds at all

lol sounds like you know what you're talking about. too high tech for me though

might have mentioned it earlier... and the links would have i'm sure... but if iPod's an option, just get an adapter and you can connect the headunit with the iPod. if not, good luck bro..

yeah i currently use a tape adapter with my ipod, works well enough but i hate the look of the wire, i prefer a hidden approach...but no FM modulator has worked for me.

what i don't like about that is that i've found, not in the TL but i'd imagine it'd be the same, that it slowly dies.. even caused problems with the volume adjustability in my old 97 accord. hopefully you don't experience that. when i first installed it, i was really happy with it though.

also, people looking in the car are able to see that you have something hooked up to your tape (some goodies to steal possibly?). that's another reason i went with the blitzsafe... everything's hidden and everything looks stock.

i've been using tape adapters for 5 years and haven't had THAT problem--only issue is that the adapters themselves are only good for a year or so. and yeah the visibility also worries me. i'd love to get the blitzsafe but am po atm...maybe for xmas or something
