Arrival Time Issues With Garmin StreetPilot C320
hey guys,
so i have a streetpilot C320, as mentioned, and whenever i enter a destination the arrival time is usually off by a large amount, whether it's 30 minutes or an hour or two. if i go back to the menu and re-select my destination the time usually corrects itself after it recalculates the route. unfortunately Garmin was unable to help me with this over the phone.
i am running the latest firmware on the unit with the latest maps, and this happens regardless of whether i'm home or out of state. one possibility was that it's not locking onto the satellites fast enough and the routes are referenced to my last known destination being used as the point of origin. i don't think this is the issue based on my experience. i know this also happens on my cousin's C330, so i'm sure it's not just my unit but more of a firmware issue.
any takers? thanks in advance!
Bob

Hold the onions
Just got mine today (Nuvi 200) the lowest of the Nuvi series and it was very accurate. I drove from OC to SD and got to my house exactly as the ETA said. I was about to get the same one as you though but I didn't want it bulky. Anyways, have you added anything to the software? I added new car icons via http://www8.garmin.com/vehicles/ and want to add more stuff to it. Anyone know any hacks? mods? for Garmin portables?? Sorry for the

SatinSilverTypeS, goto Garmin's website download page and download their latest firmware. C320 has a few firmware releases since Feb '07. It's a must also because of the new start date of the daylight saving time, otherwise all the clocks will be screwed up in between the new and old dates.
In addition, the new firmware also fixed the "points of interest" bug which prevents any "points of interest" flags from showing up on my maps.

I got the nuvi 320, drove all over socal last week on vacation with it connected to my rental car and it was spot on, even in the insane LA traffic with all the freeway splits. The ETA was perfect as well since i was traveling between LA and Palm Springs. I would pull in my driveway within a min or two of what it says.

Whenever a new firmware is released, it usually incorporate various minor software fixes which are too small or too many to be posted on the release notes. When I updated to the daylight saving firmware edition, it also fixed my POI bug which I never had known exist. So it's always good to use the latest firmware.

just an FYI, i updated the firmware and it didn't help. i still have to recalculate each route an additional 1 or 2 times before the correct arrival time is displayed. i'll call them and try to get it straightened out again. not a big deal in the long run though, i just go to "recent selections" and re-select the destination and then it usually displays the right time.
oh yeah, and i never knew that if you touched the arrival time that it would give you your average speed, etc. i thought that was neat.

Due to the next-to-nil information provided by the couple sheets of throw-in "owner's manual", most of the GPS's functions and features are not documented. So even now whenever a new screen comes up on the GPS, I'll touch all over the screen just to make sure there's no more hidden surprises.
