Anyone mounted an amp behind rear seat?
I want the sub easy to remove, so placing the amp on the enclosure is not a option.
I have a small amp (8 X 8.75) and a single 12. To mount the amp, the best option looks like attaching an MDF board in the trunk, behind the rear seat, driver's side, on the metal frame (inner cross member/panel). Then mounting the amp to the board.
I was also looking at the location of a stock nav unit, on the rear tray.
The driver's side of the trunk is another option. There is a nice piece of frame near the trunk hinge. But, I dont see a place to attach a board near the tail light. I would also like to keep the cargo net functional.
thanks

Yes just use a piece of wood in the back of the seat. Shouldn't be a problem. Just bolt it in good. Iwouldnt recommend anywhere else b/c its a bitch to attach wood onto any other part really that securely.
Feel free to mount the amp to the enclosure...just be wary of the following things:
1. The length of the screws you're using. THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT. Figure out how thick you board is and then select a screw. You put a hole in an enclosure by using a screw that's too long and you're...screwed.
2. The weight of the amp. This is important. Some amps just are too heavy to be mounted horizontally with short screws on a box.
3. Airflow. Running a meaty amp? Want to tuck it all cute on the back of a box, so that it gets ZERO fresh air? Bad idea. Overheating will occur.
I mounted a kicker amp on the back of a bandpass box for 4 years and never had a problem. Plus, it was easy to get to so I could make adjustments.

I ended up mounting my amp like NSXNEXT ....

10th or 11th picture. My amp is much smaller and mounted lower, where the cap is. For the board, I used an MDF board, carpet, adhesive spray, and a few staples to hold the carpet. To mount the board, two round-head bolts. I bolted them to the sheet metal/sub-frame, near the cargo net tie-down. Made two holes in the trunk liner. Then used the bolts to mount the board.
Neil and Street, thanks for the pics.
Mounting behind the seat would have been easy with the rear seat out. The only problem(s) is reaching the amp with the seat in. You have to crawl in the trunk and work in a tight space. Adjusting anything or removing the amp would be difficult.
