i have some D series mb quarts and i plan to upgrade to Q's components in the future. i can get em for about $320. i was wondering if anyone's heard the q's and any focals? how do they compare...and can i find focals 6.5" component set for around the same price? thanks

 

Are you looking at the focal polykevlar or utopia series? The Polyk series has a bright tweeter while the utopias tweeter (TN51) is more smooth and very accurate. I auditioned them both at the same store and I felt the focal utopias fit my needs better than the QSD216.

 

You have to listen to speakers. Everbodys ear is different. I like the MB Q-seriers better then the focal but I can understand how someone could like the Focal more.

What i find the focals to have more of over the MBQ is midbass. Personally, I like the Focal Polykevlar midrange/midbass with the TN52 tweeter over the utopia set.

 

Yeah Focal and CDT Audio have some amazing midbass. I have the CDTs and with my subs turned off, the car thumbs pretty damn good.

 

I was sold to the Utopia immediately but they cost too much

 

I like the Q Series, but havent listened to the Focals. I like the MB Q Series, only thing I did is on the crossovers put the tweeters at a -6 otherwise they are very bright and seem to hurt the ears after a while. at -6 they are perfect
