Anyone have experience with a JL e2150 Amp?

I know JL doesn't recommend doing it BUT, I want to run an e2150 with a 2 ohm load in bridge mode. Do you think it will work or will I trip the fault circuitry?

I might just give it a shot...since the actual resistance varies by freq and voltage...I just don't know if I'll be running it within that threshold that will shut the thing down. I suppose there's the potential for damage too huh? Probably not.

In case anyone cares, I'm using the thing to drive a dual 4 ohm Alpine S type, 12". Since my wiring options are limited to 2 ohms or 8 ohms (currently running 8 ohms and not getting much power from the amp), I have to run the amp 2 ohms bridged OR return the speaker and get the dual 2 ohm model. I guess I could also run a second wire to the sub and drive each voice coil on it's own channel (both are mono) and thus show each channel 4 ohms, which would give me more power (roughly twice) than what I'm sending the sub now.

JL recommends running 4 ohm min when bridged...

Anyone help?

if you want to run 2 ohm mono, trade the e2150 for an e1400d (400 watts at 12v into 2 ohns, more into higher voltage). 2150 and 1400 are the same size. jps

I don't think the 2150 amp will handle it and I think if you have a TSX the class D amp will tast your FM reception

Once option is to get a 2.0 or so crossover inductor and series it with your woofer load. It's a cheat.

e1400d seems like a good little amp.

I think I'll just get the dual 2 ohm speaker though. The 2150 will provide plenty of RMS power for my application.

By the way, I have an 03 TL-P but nothing about the audio system is stock anymore. What's the deal with the TSX? I don't think I get your joke Elduderino...

Thanks for your opinion glott but I suspect you tried to use the amp for an application that it wasn't designed for. You nailed it though, clean if you don't demand much power from it.

Yeah, the slash series is incredible but you pay for it. The circuitry in the e series is great though, you just don't get the regulated power supplies. Like I said, for my application, it's plenty of power. I'm a pilot and need to protect my hearing...there doesn't seem to be much in after market audio that's designed with hearing protection in mind
