any diy install on basslink?

i just bought an infinity basslink off of e-bay and try a search but didn't come up with anything more than mentioning the basslink in threads.

is this going to to be an easy diy project, for those of you with them, were instructions on how to install provided? if not does anyone have a step by step online i can check out?

thanks

You will need a few things. Assuming that you are connecting to outputs from the head unit.

1. A power connection kit. Depending on the gauge of the wire and the quality you may spent anywhere from $40 up to a $100. they can be found at any Circuit City or best Buy. I recomend 10AWG wire.

2. 5 inline taps for 16 AWG. They can be found at the electrical section of an Autozone or Pepboys.

3. Depending on the distance from the power amp in the back. you will need one high quality audio cable with RCA connectors. 3 or 6 feet. Recommend you get the 6 foot to be on the safe side. it can be found at Best Buy or Circuit City.

Inputs to the Basslink are as follow

1. Power from battery (power kit)
2. Right and left audio sinals (Audio cable)
3. Remote start cable.

Other connections

1. Ground
2. Remote level control

Take the power kit and run the cable from the battery, thru the fire wall into the cabin on the driver side, under the door sill, under the back side panel under the rear seat, up to the trunk and to the basslink.

Ground goes from the Basslink to a good ground point in the trunk. I used the crew mount for the power amp.

The stock power amp is located on the passenger side at the trunk under the side insulation panel. In order to get to it you need to disassemble the plastic cover on the rear of the trunk, take out your cargo net and unscrew allthe cargo net point in the rear and side panel of the passenger side of the trunk. take out the tool tray and jack.

Tap on the fowwing wires going to the power amp. You will need to open the wire harness.

BLK --- Audio Right rear negative
BLU --- Audio Right rear positive

GRN --- Audio Left rear negative
RED --- Audio Left rear positive

YEL/WHT --- Remote turn on.

Take your audio RCA connector cable, cut one end and using your in line taps, tap in the mentioned wires and make the appropriate connections.

The red RCA is Right. Connections are BLU to center conductor and BLK to outer shield.

The white RCA is Left. Connections are RED to center conductor and GRN to outer shield.

Tap on the YEL/WHT wire for the remote turn on.

When you look at the back of the Basslink the connections are labeled.

Left and right RCA inputs. (taped from input to power amp)

Remote power on. (taped from input to power amp)

Power (From battery via power connection kit)

Ground (to a good ground, perhaps mount of power amp to chassis)

Level control (to level control box if you have one)

PM for more details.

alright guys, i followed the instructions above and it went cool. basslink in but the only problem is that i get noise w/ the radio on at low volume, it's louder w/ acceleration, and isn't there went the radio is off. I disconnected the rca wires to the basslink and the noise is still there (mainly sounds like it's coming from the passenger side of the trunk).

If it helps, i ran the power from the battery through the firewall under the dash to the passenger side and down through the rear passenger seats to the passenger side of the trunk. the ground wire is near the back passenger side tire area of the trunk.

any comments?

this thing sounds good though i like it alot (and this is coming from 2 12's rattling the shit out of my old car)

sounds like ground loop interference. Try installing a ground loop isolator. they can be found at any radio shack.
