Amp won't turn off

OK guys. I installed my system and wired up everything and it works perfectly except that the amp will not turn off when i turn off the car and radio, the lights and power LED on the amp just stay on. I know the remote wire is good cuz I used with the stock sub mod previously. Even when i take out the remote wire it still wont turn off. I'm stumped, any ideas?

sounds like the power source you're using is a constant and is on all the time. have you tried a different source for that? Have you used a volt meter to double check the remote wire and your power?

ya the remote wire works fine, i checked it. I have the amp power cord connected directly to the battery using 8 gauge wiring. I didnt know there was another source i can use, any other sources are there?

Newbee: Fuses have nothing to do with it.

Nataab88: Your amp is messed up internally. Hit it with a hammer then buy a new one.

Check your head unit... make sure the constant and accessory wires aren't mixed up by testing them with a voltmeter

I think its the amp thats messed up cuz it stays on even when there is nothing connected to the remote port.

Nope not fixed yet. I just have a temp fix where i pulled the ground up behind the rear seats where the stock sub is. i glued a super strong magnet to the ground connector and now whenever i need to turn it on i reach back and stick it to the bolt thats right in front of the stock sub, i think its where you would hook up a kids car seat if you have one.

haha, nice fix. Hopefully you don't damage the amp anymore than it already is by having to pull the ground all the time, or having a loose ground on like bumpy roads. Also i'd be cautious of like electrical fires. For some reason I keep hearing stories lately of people having fires in their car that it's made me paranoid enough to put a can of fire extinguisher stuff in my car.

definitely sounds like something is wrong w/ the amp though if it is on w/ nothing in the remote. I assume you double checked to make sure the power wire isn't jumping to the remote port in anyway. Thats the only way I could see it staying on all the time w/o a remote wire.

Haha ya I'm careful with watching the connection. I might just put in a toggle switch in the front by the dimmer. I don't really care if the amp gets any more messed up. I didn't know it could mess up if I kept pulling the ground, whatever. And ya, I made hella sure that the power wasn't jumping to the remote port.
