MISC: AMP help
Hey,
I have some Coaxial Pioneer A class speakers which are 3 way, and I was wondering if adding an Amp to them would be improve the sound. I am on a budget so I was thinking about $150.
I have a Pioneer DEH-P5100Ub as the headunit, and I have a Basslink as my sub.
I read the car audio faq, But I was still confused on what kind of amp I should choose for my coaxial speakers ? And also what brands and models are a good choice.
any help is appreciated, thanks

You'd be better off saving up for a decent set of components. For around $200 or so, you should be able to pick up a decent set of components (PG RSD's go for like $85 shipped new) an amp (something around 85-100x2 @ 4 ohms) and wire (Knu Konceptz has a 4g kit for like $40-50 IIRC). That's what I'd do personally.
To answer your question though, amping may help them. You'd need a 2 channel amp.

Adding an amplifier will definitely make them sound better. Since you already have the speakers, why not get an amplifier now to run them. You can always upgrade the speakers later. However, trying to get a decent amplifier, then having it installed will more than likely be impossible on that budget. I'd recommend heading down to a reputable stereo shop and seeing what they have available.
Also, Phoenix Gold is no longer the great company they once were. But either way, if you are shopping for speakers you really need to audition them first. Blind buying is a very bad idea.
