Amp Fuse Question
Amp Fuse Question
last night i blew my fuse, the one that is connected to my battery. when i first put in my sub my installer put a 40 in it and it blew. so he put in a 60. worked well for a few weeks till last night. i was wondering if putting a higher fuse, say an 80, would that effect anthing? is this good or bad? i crank it pretty loud sometimes when i am crusing the highway or when i had a bad day at work i like to get a "massage" on the ride home. thanks in advance.
What equipment are you running, and how much power is it drawing from the battery/alternator. There is a formula that will tell you what the right fuse is for the amount of power you are drawing. I just dont know where it is right now, but someone should know and i will look for it.
Ok. assuming you're only running one amp ( the 500/1), look on your amp's connections. look for the fuses. I'm not sure of how many fuses/what amperage the fuses are, so I'm telling you to find it. find what the fuses are rated at, then multiply by the number of fuses. EXAMPLE = (30 Amps X 3). The number that you come up with is what you should use in the front by your battery. dont go any higher.
