Alternate Basslink placement?

I'm looking into getting an Infinity Basslink for the trunk, but I often use the back seat pass-through for hockey sticks and sometimes for skis. It seems like most folks are placing it right behind the pass-through - is there enough room there to put a hockey stick around it and through the opening? It didn't seem like it in pics I saw. If not, what would be the effect of placing the Basslink to the side of the pass-through opening? Would the sound still make it through the seats? Would the bass be uneven in the car? Are there any other spots that are good? In a search, the only other site I saw was by the tray on the side of the trunk near the back.

Also, if I mounted it to the side of the opening, which way would I orient it? I know you're supposed to put it facing the back of the car where most folks mount it - why is that? It seems you want the sound to go to the front of the car, but I'm sure there's a good reason, everyone seems to agree.

Thanks for the help, I'm certainly no audio expert, but with a little advice hopefully I can get a bit more bass to complement the Bose.

most ppl I know mount it right by one of the break lights :o (TYP on the driver's side as to not block the jack access)

Thanks ricardo. If you mount it there, what's the best orientation for it - facing across the trunk perpendicular to the car, or still towards the back of the car?

Mines on the passanger side. Blocks it a little, but I can still get stuff through the pass through without a problem.

fuzzy02CLS:

Can you provide details regarding how you wired this unit into the rest of the sound system? Are you happy with the Basslink? I am considering doing the same thing.

Thanks!

Might save some time, & search. My install is only one of a few ways to do it. Power to battery, ground to bolt under the trunk liner, turn on spliced from the stock amp, & signal spliced into a pair of RCA from the head unit. Silverknights sound system template has the wire colors.

The sound is fine. It's not very loud bass outside the car, but inside it's loud enough. If your looking to be noticed, or are a bassfreak, the basslink isn't for you. Blends in nicley with the stock system.
