Alpine Type X worth buying?

The JL w6 and w7 are kind of expensive for me, so I found some Alpine type X on ebay for decent price. Im not that big on all that audio stuff...Would the Alpine Type X be a good sub to buy, and I what kind of amp is good with that sub.

It's a value question, so you need to post the price (with shipping) that you'd be paying... and which size?

I dont think that many people have used them...

The sub for a 12 inch would cost $239.00 and shipping $33.00.

You should be able to get a better sub than an Alpine for $272 shipped.

What about a JL 10 w6v2? Or did you want to stay with a 12"?

Go with the new alpine Type R. THe Type X is really inefficient and not worth buying.

Also against the JL 12w6v2 I prefer the Alpine Type R. IT hits hard and still stays clear.

Unless you have heard the alpine Type X u should not speak of it. I have two friends that both have 1 type X 12 in a crazzy box and a alpine v12 1000 watt amp. it hits sooo hard. The new Type R's are also very nice. I have only heard the new Type R's in a SUV and he had 3 and it was impressive.

I would go for the new 2005 Type R subs. They look great and sound very impressive. Alot of base and very accruate. Very good for the $$ for those type R subs.

Kicker CompVR is 149.99 and can take rediculous amounts of power without distorting. Real good sound quality and smoothness. Great Value.

DLS is a company in Sweden whose gear has won many IASCA competitions in Europe and the US. I didn't know who they were either, and tuan209 turned me on to them, and I ended up becoming a dealer : )

As I've stated before, a good box can make many, many woofers sound good - but I will still say that $275 for an Alpine woofer is not a good value. Didn't say it was bad, just a lot of money for a speaker from a company with a poor woofer track record.
