I have a friend with two alpine type e's in a dual box. Ive tried convincing him to upgrade to better subs, but what he wants to do is get a third. hes got the trunk room, but would having two in one box and a third in a separate box create any problems with the sound?

Yeah, bad idea. Don't do it... He's better off selling the 2 he's got and getting 1 good sub, assuming he's got the power for it...
