Alpine or Kenwood.....I cannot decide

Ok I am going to get a new head unit but I cannot decide between the follwing:

http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage....6&type=product

http://www.circuitcity.com/detail.js...&oid=57294&m=0

http://www.circuitcity.com/detail.js...&oid=70601&m=0

I know both are well built, etc.

One thing that is making it tough is that I currently use Sirius Sat radio and the kenwood has it build in, where the Alpine has XM.

I am thinking if I can get someone to measure between the bottom of their metra kit, where the stereo ends and measure to the area that holds the seat heaters, if it is big enough, I might be able to mount the audiovox unit there, if I go with the Alpine.

Anyway if anyone uses the units I posted above, please post your opinion.

Thanks

I dont know if you plan on buying external amps to power your door speakers, but if so, you should find a CD player with no built in amp. These units run much more cool, and use that extra space to house better components = better overall SQ. That is why I chose my Alpine, but all 3 of those units are nice, I just dont really like how the Kenwood folds down - looks like it is just asking to break sometime.

I already have a Jl Audio 300/r running the front and rears....Fronts are Diamond Audio s600s components and the rear are the Diamond Audio m361i

I have a basslink for the sub.

What do you mean by no amp....don't they all put out power? The alpine is 60w.

I am confused
I know what you mean by the kenwood look fragile. I am not sure if you read my response to this thread:

http://www.acura-tl.com/forums/showt...d=1#post863016

My thoughts are this. If there is enough room underneath the area that holds the actual HU, I may be able to cut out the parts below and insert the Audiovox Sirius unit. But I need someone to measure the distance from the bottom of the HU till the seat heaters so I can get a good idea of the space available to work with.

I do like the unit, I like how much information it gives.

I don't know if I could use a version that only shows 2 lines of info.

My CD player doesnt have an internal amp...only RCA outputs. These units are regarded to have better SQ and the unit can use that unused space for better components inside. They are few and far between though...have you checked out Crutchfield???

go to Crutchfield.com

they are an authorized online retailer. Very good stuff, and you dont pay taxes.\

That type of player - no internal amp, isnt necessary, just something you may look into.

With the Kenwood, I mean how the face folds down, there isnt any support behind the unit, so with daily use, pushing on the face - I wonder how long that will last...

I believe there is a mounting kit that will hold a 1 DIN unit and a 1/2 DIN unit. how big is your Sirius reciever? Or you could always get a custom kit.

http://www.circuitcity.com/detail.js...orMsg=no_avail

Second to answer your statement OU....I have the ability to shut off the internal amp if using external amps....just what you were saying I should do!

well the site says $599 and I was going to pay that, but when I called the store they have one left at $369....at that price, I CANNOT go wrong!

I think I am going to find a way to mount the audiovix sat radio under the alpine head unit.
