Question Alpine CHA-S614 cd changer

I took one off a friends hand that did not know what it was worth because it came on his car. It worked with a alpine tape player he had in the car but bought another cd player anyway because he rather have the indash. Well i took it off his hands for buying some cable for the winch on his jeep.
Well i was wondering if there is anyway to hook it to the stock cd player. The factory cd changer is alpine right? Well i asked one audio store and they told me i would need $100 in converters or something. Any ideas for me? Know any place cheeper for the converters?

Exclamation i believe...

the A in CHA indicates that this changer uses the ai-net bus system, which will not allow it to work with the stock system since most honda (probably acura too) headunits use M (or mini-bus) system.

****, well does can anyone tell me what I am doing. I am trust tring to figure if I really need to to pay the $100 that the audio shop wants for the 2 converters. Well i guess its not that big of a differnence. The site has 1 for $50 and 1 for $30, big $20 is not going to hurt me I guess.

I purchased a CHS-604 (for my Civic) a few years ago and needed only *ONE* conversion cable ($12) to connect the OEM cable (the very long one that connects the CD changer to the HU). There is a switch on the CD changer to switch between AINet/M mode, so I don't think you need another OEM cable.

$100 is defintely TOO MUCH. Try your local alpine dealers. They should carry the conversion cable.

You do need the 130B Ai-Net to M-Bus adaptor. Then you would also need an Alpine to Honda/Acura adaptor, or modify it yourself. Anyway, I did this same hookup only with a CHA-S604 changer. FYI, the S614 replaced the S604, and both those changers where Hybrids. You move teh swich to either Ai-Net, or M-Bus for your designed opporation. Those changers were/are great changers. The only one I rather have more is the Japan 609 changer bassed of the old 5959S, that was also a Hybrid. Anyway, I use the 130B, then modified a DIN extension to work with Acura wiring, and plugs it into the stock DIN. I used the short DIN extension so I did not have to rewire the OEM DIN. An Alpine to Honda/Acura adaptor would have done the modification I did itself. I did this for a Legend, so I am not familiar with the exact wiring of the TL DIN so I wont comment on that.

If you were to buy both adaptors, it should cost no more the about $60 total. That is about $20-$30 for each adaptor.

I traded a friend by buying him $30 cable for the winch on his Jeep.

Acura Racer, did you ever get this to work?
I've got the same changer from an old car and am looking to hook it up to a new MDX, which supposedly is the same head unit as the TL.
Or, if you sold the changer, how much?
Thanks.
