Alpine Amp "CUR" reading

I've had my system running for a good 6+ years now. All was fine until a few days ago. I started the car and I notice that I do not hear the sub. I look at the amp and it reads "CUR" which i assume means insufficient current going to the amp. I disconnect the sub (just to see) and it still has the same error message. I am a noob at electronics and such so do any of you guys have any pointers as to how i should go about diagnosing the problem?

what amplifier and sub are you running???

Seems like the amp is drawing too much current ... might be that your amp gain is too high, or perhaps your sub is lower than the recommended minimum load impedance...
