All audio gurus - need help with amp issues!

I'm having a wierd issue with my amp. First of all, my setup consists of a 5 ch Lightning Audio 5.700 amp running a single Kicker Comp CVR 12" sub. The sub is dvc 2ohm wired in parallel to produce a 4ohm resistance as the amp is not 1ohm stable. The amp is receiving its signal from a LOC spliced into the factory sub output wires (04 TL). I'm only using the sub speaker outputs on the amp. It has worked very well for me until now.

Anyhoo, over the past few weeks I have noticed the sub dropping off and back in when I go over bumps in the road and stuff and I can't figure out why this is so. I have checked all wiring, power, ground, LOC outputs and everything looks fine. I have a remote bass knob (with a red proctection LED) near the driver's side footwell and noticed that the amp never goes into proctection when this happens. I have tested the sub with my home surround receiver and a buddies amp and it pounds like usual so I know its not that. So this leaves me to believe that its an issue with the amp. Anyone on here with experience with LA amps and know what this issue could be. I can't take driving my car without the sub 40hz bass notes in my car anymore and with Christmas coming up I hadn't budgeted to get a new amp at this time. Help a brotha out!

yeah definately sounds like it's an amp problem if you have checked everything else. Unless, it could be faulty wires themselves as opposed to just the connections. Have you tried switiching out ur RCA's. Where have you grounded the amp? Maybe the contact to metal is not as clean as desireable. I'm just throwing ideas out

the amp is gounded on one of the bolts in the trunk floor and it looked good when I checked it out. I haven't tried swithing out the RCAs yet, but when Ilooked at them they looked fine, no fraying or anythin; I'll try switch them out tomorrow hoping I won't freeze to death in the process. LOL!

FYI, Wiring voice coils in parallel drops the impedence. I am assuming you meant they were wired in series which would present the amp with a 4-ohm load. If you actually have your 2-ohm voice coils wired in parallel, the amp would be seeing a 1-ohm load which could definately cause a problem with that amp.

Ur right, I meant I wired the voice coils in series. It would definitely go into protection if the load was 1-ohm. I'll switch out the RCAs after work today see how runs.

Dark Inspire - I haven't ran the amp in someone elses car yet. But do note that this happens after the car has been running for a bit and when going over bumps it cuts out. Funny thing is it did not do this on my way into work this morning. If it does this again after I replace the RCAs I'm gonna have to ask one of my buddies to drive with it for a coupla days and see what happens. Thx for the suggestions guys.
