After Market Head unit for a TL S-type

My cd changer is not working on the stock head unit so im weighing my options on whether to switch to an after market headunit or do a stock headunit. I have been told that if you leave the stock speakers and the stock amp than it's better to keep the stock headunit. I have also been told that an aftermarket headunit will give you better sound...I would appreciate some input to help me make the best decision.

Aftermarket HU will sound better regardless of the speakers you have. Single din or double-din will work, but you have to get a dash kit for it. These will be easy to find.

How much money are you willing to spend? To replace your stock HU, you will have to spend around 150-200. For around 250 you can get a decent aftermarket single din HU. The harness will run you about 15-20, and the plastic bracket also around 15-20. Last but not least you will have to run a remote wire and rca's to your stock amp for the bose sub to work. Therefore it's completely up to you. Btw, interims of SQ, you will feel a difference but nothing substantial, for that you will need to replace speakers.

A grand? What the hell are you buying for a grand for just a hu? That's crazy expensive, unless you're getting one of the 4 or 5 decks in the world that will do a 4 way active setup. Absolutely rediculous cost for just a deck...

The 800/880 are alright, but they have a much better deck coming out this year. I just can't remember the model number. It's supposed to be up near the capabilities of the Alpine F1. That alone should say enough about it, for those that know what the F1 can do.

Nothing smart about it. It has been discussed many times. It's in the FAQ, and the GARAGE. Just go search for it. Geez.

I don't believe any other head unit can make the factory amp and speakers sound better than the original. that's just my opinion. However, installing a complete new system will give you exactly what you are looking for. You just have to find the right one.
