After-market Head Unit Adapter?
After-market Head Unit Adapter?
My OEM Bose cd player really sucks and I have already gotten it replaced by Acura. Now my warranty is out and it still wont play CD-Rs. It plays them, but it doesn't start playing for the longest time. So I decided to buy a Pioneer Premier DEH-P860MP and get it installed. However, I have heard that the stock speakers will not work if I install an After-Market Head Unit, do I need a special adapter if I want to continue to use my stock speakers??? Thank you in advance.
The stock speakers will work, but they'll sound like crap. I'd replace at least the fronts, and solder in RCA connectors to keep the stock sub with the new HU. (Make sure you get one with subwoofer RCA outs).
The aftermarket harness adapter (like from Crutchfield) will have all your wires, including speakers--but not the subwoofer. (See my other posts for data on hooking up the sub)

I just went to a car stereo place and they said that i would have to by-pass the stock amp and the installer said i would need an adapter, and that the stock sub wouldnt work........im not sure if hes correct or not....any suggestions...thank you in advance.
See my other post. ("comprehensive data...")
You can't use the stock amp with a new headunit, because the old amp is inside the old headunit. You can keep using the stock subwoofer, but it involves soldering.
