Yes, you can simply add tweeters with a simple homemade crossover.
1. Make sure that you have the positive and negative terminals of the BLOSE speaker and the new tweeter PROPERLY indentified. If you have the phase of the tweeter reversed from the phase of the midrange, things would sound nulled out and undefined.
2. Next you would want to parallel the tweeters with the midrange speaker keeping the polarities correct. (positive to positive, negative to negative) BUT YOU MUST FIRST INSTALL A 4.7UF/50VOLT NON-POLARIZED ELECTROLYTIC CAP IN SERIES WITH THE POSITIVE LEAD UP TO THE NEW TWEETER!!! This is a simple crossover, but one that is used on several coaxial type speakers with tweeters. If you do not put the high pass coupling cap in line with the tweeter, it will surely burn up from all of the lower frequency material that it cannot handle.
3. You may also find out, like many of us, that once you add tweeters to the stock system with the pre-emphsized EQ in circuit, that it now sounds way too bright. If that is the case for you, simply add another 5Watt or 10Watt power resistor in series with the cap up to the tweeter. This will lower the output from tweeter and knock down some of the brightness. It will also let the amp run a bit cooler. The stock amp RUNS HOT! You can select values anywhere between 2.7ohms and 6.8ohms to knock the level down to where you like it, if needed. I recommend 3.9ohm/5watt resistors with the stock amp. If you EVER add an aftermarket amp to power things, then you would want to jump up to a 10watt resistor.
4. Whether or not you find REALLY efficient tweeters could be a good thing or a bad thing, depending upon your ears. Really efficient tweeters could sound REALLY bright with the stock EQ still left in circuit. I recomment going with soft dome (silk) tweeters over titanium tweeters for this reason. But pick what you like, and you can always cut them down with a series power resistor. JUST MAKE SURE TO USE THE SERIES CROSSOVER CAP, NO MATTER WHAT!
Hope this helps a bit... Let us know how things turn out.
