Question Adding a sub to stock system

WHattup guys, as u can see im a newbie, here and in general...I just bought the '03 TL w/o NAV and im looking to get installed an amp, 12" enclosed sub, and half farat cap (that I already bought)to the stock system. I already took the car to 2 good local places and they didnt know how to do it. I dont want to gut the car system since its brand new...under 1000 miles. I sent an email to Ron at Streeteffectz already, and am awating his response, but in the meantime, has anyone else done exactly this (without removing anything....like the stock sub and porting the bass from the trunk....etc). I know this is exactly what I want to do right now, so im not really looking for advice on anything better, i just want to hear from anybody whos had this done. Thanx.

Do you know the configuration tho? Do they tap into the existing subwoofer line, or bypass the eq from the HU and tap that...? I'm a bit lost, since every place I went to had a different idea that was "guaranteed" to work...

its not too difficult

We all agree that the stock subwoofer is not so impressive.
I recently put one (infinity Basslink) myself. Regardless of choice
of the amp and sub, installing one is not too difficult at all.
You need to run 12V wire, from the battery. This was once
discussed on a separate thread. You can do your search on this. There is a very nice hole already so you don't need
to drill one yourself. I did drilling myself on my previous Accord
V6, but you don't want to mess with your TL because it has
lots of pipes (for ABS, i guess). Running this wire is easy
because all the plastic trims on the door frame pop out with
your fingernails.

You need RCA signal and remote turn-on lead. These are
available from the stock subwoofer amp, which is located
on the right side of the rear seat. So you need to take the
seat out, take out this stock amp bracket, and solder a
pair of RCA connector with turn-on lead (from Monster Cable).
You don't need to worry about EQs on this. You can do search
in this forum, "radio diagram", then you will be able to see
a link to a scanned wire diagram.

I'm working on adding an Alpine 10" Sub with MTX Amp this weekend. Just prepping the wires and trunk with dynamatting. Also trying to find the best location for the amp.
I'll install tomorrow.

[Geninfty] pretty much sums up the whole process.
As far as the back seat just remove a few bolts; the bottom pops up easy; top of the back seat needs a little knugging (out and up) because there's two hooks keeps the seat in place.
You find the stock sub amp on the right side.

Also- once you disconnected the stock amp, the wires to tap into are:
ORN (orange) = remote turn-on
BLU/GRN = BASS (+)
ORN/BLU = BASS (-)

There's a lot of great threads on this subject.

this link also shows the wiring diagrams for EQ, head unit and more.

For taking the rear seat out, the following link will be of great help:
