Adding a new HU, a couple questions..

Ok, so i've decided im gonna try to add a new HU since the STOCK CD PLAYER SUCKS BALLS!!! anyways, i was wondering if there is any way i can make the metra kit match with my interior wood trim kit? i don't want it to look tacky. also will i still be able to use all the stock components with a new HU? like the sub and all the speakers?
and last i was wondering if there are any HU's out there that let u still be able to use the steering wheel controls? thanks for any help!

wow this has been discussed many times..i thought you'd know by now. Oh well, to answer your questions...someone on the boards sanded down their metra kit and it turned out almost perfect match in color...forgot who,. As for stock speakers and sub, the speakers are fine, but you lose the bose sub. The sub runs on an external amp, so if you want bass, you'll need to get a new one. The steering wheel controls, you will lose. However, you can get a PEZWICK (is that how you spell it?) adapter that you can use to make the controls work with your HU. (costs like $60 or so i think). Oh and have fun installing your HU (if you're gonna DIY), you're gonna have to take out so many things haha. Not too hard though.

well i think overboost did and great job covering all the bases there.. but you said you are looking for the metra kit to match your stock wood.. does that mean you want it woodgrain as well... if so you can send it to exoticwooddash.com and let them coat it to match.. but they are pricey... but like overboost mentioned someone did sand theres down and said it matched almost perfect... oh yeah and that adapter is made by periphial...

it was me who sanded it and im extremly happy with the match, its not perfect but neither was the center consol with the factory radio and dash. i would just sand the metra kit and leave it at that (220 then 400wet then 600 or 800wet)
