adding bass to the 03 cl

ima keep this as simple and straight foward as possible

first off i want to keep the stock in dash head unit/6disc.... the bose system as you guys know is lackin bass and ive heard some pretty bassy 6x9's..... do i need anything special to get some real bass happening or wat? i know the 100 watt bose amp wont do the job or will it?

i dont want to use subs becuase i bump a lot of rock and dont need too much bass..... but when i do bump hip hop i want some more bass of course

so it boils down to what do i need to get some bassy 6x9s workin properly?

I am kind of in the same situation. I want to hook up a 12" sub woofer and a 500watt amp to the stock head unit. How hard would it be to wire it?

I have had dual 10" woofers in huge sealed boxes for years and am very happy with the Basslink II

have always wondered abou tthe basslink; looks like a good alternative for not having to give up that much trunk space (which is important to me as i'm always lugging random stuff around); how much do the basslinks run?

I got this one on eBay nib for 224.xx delivered.

The only real problem I had was not wanting to mess with the floor. I would have had to cut that part off to be able to access the spare so I removed it and got the liner in the black market and got a piece of plywood at home depot to keep the rubber from falling into the floor.

It really sounds great with the stock system and I am sure will be better when I replace it with my system later.

Search for basslink. Also check out the audio FAQ on great info on adding a sub & amp.

This was invaluable to getting power through the firewall:

http://silverknight.clickhere2.net/sound.html

There is a existing hole on the firewall which is very hard to find. Look carefully from the inside. It's closed to the throttle connector (I made up the name). It's 2-3" in. above and 1-2" to right and covered by the insulation. Use a crew driver to poke through it so you can see it from the engine compartment. The below pic is the view of the wire entrance on the firewall. It's kind of hard to imagine ... Just stick your head to where the pedals are and look up, you'll see it.

Quality? Compared to what? Depends on what your used to & can live with. Does the basslink sound bad? No. But it doesn't sound like a sealed sub where you will hear every bass note in clarity.
It will play deep bass fairly loud in the car. It will add low end to a system without the cost & space problems with other subs/amp combo's.

Compared to a quality sub(s)/amp (three times as much money & 10x more space taken up) it is lacking.

It fills in the missing bass in the stock system nicely and will sound better after I get my Kenwood NAV system feeding it.

It is like many things in life a compromise. I wanted to keep the bulk of my trunk available for things so I went this route.

thanks guys, I was mainly looking to fill in that empty spot where the bass is supposed to be. Could I mount it on the backside of the rear seats?
