Adding amp and speakers to 97 TL

Can I add a amp and use new speakers to a 97 TL headunit?

Is the 97 TL headunit amped or unamped? Does anyone have the wiring diagrams? Thanks in advance.

Sorry but I don't have a wiring diagram for you. I am also not real familiar with the system in the 97 TL. However, as a general rule, if you want to add an amp to the stock deck you will need to use a Line Output Converter (LOC). You will need a 4-channel if you want to do the front and back speakers. After doing quite a bit of research, I bought mine from Navone Engineering http://www.davidnavone.com.
