I hear the JVC digifine mp3/cd player models (like the SH-99 or newer 909) are a pretty good bang for the buck. From the reviews I've read, they're pretty good at handling the mp3 files and the CD player is nice too....Burr-Brown DACs. The mp3 capable Alpines are always nice if you're wanting to pay that much for one. Just look for some reviews on the internet. At least avoid Aiwa.

I just installed the Alpine 7998 and it is amazing. The only thing though is that you NEED to have external amps. There is a matching model with internal amps, but I don't know the model.

Alpine or Pioneer will do the trick...You cant go wrong with any any of their units. Eclipse has the best sound but no mp3 capability yet....
