Adding amp to rear deck speakers

Adding amp to rear deck speakers

I was looking onto adding an amp (Alpine 2 ch) to the rear deck speakers I have (Polk GXR69). The install tech told me since I have an OEM amp I cannot tap into the current rear deck speakers wires via LOC (line converter) without burning up the OEM amp/head unit some time down the road. Is he BSing me or is he right? I am a novice at this type of stuff. Any help or suggestions appreciated. Thanks.

I call BS. I am doing this right now with my current set up. Many people have been doing this on the RSX's, TL's, and CL's. Although, I do have to reccomend a good LOC like those featured on http://davidnavone.com/
