Added amp today....
Ok, so i picked up my tsx last night, and today at work i pulled it in and decided to go with the least intrusive way to add bass. so i run 4 gauge to battery and spliced an RCA to left rear 6X9 and got ground from metal tube bolt under back seat. i used a jl 250/1 using current sensing for turn on. we just picked up jl where i work, so it was my first slash series amp to do to auto turn on. i does work, but you have to adjust gain just right, or when you turn the car off the is extremely loud hum through the sub. i used the jl W7 8" H.O. premade box, which sounds really good, just not drop down loud. i may change to a 500/1 tomorrow just for giggles to see the difference.......question was, why did i get the hum, and how do i get around it, besides run remote wire? also, would i get more input by using both 6X9 for my input, or does it really make a difference? thanks for any input......
Based on reading the 250/1 info, you would get 3dB more signal if you ran L and R into it. The R 6x9s seem to be mono anyway, so a "Y" adapter would probably do the same thing.
The difference between a 250/1 and a 500/1 should be about... oh, 3dB? (Before you start jacking with the 500/1's bass eq features...)
Usually signal-sense TO features have a lower threshold for turn-OFF than turn-ON - this is called a Schmidt trigger, and it keeps quiet passages from causing motorboating on the amp. I don't know exactly why you had hum (I don't know the schematic details of that amp), but I expect it was the front end of the amp picking up noise after it lost its signal.
The FM amp for the R glass antenna is in the pass C pillar, and the RTO wire from the HU is in there. I don't remember what color it is, but a search of this forum would find it - and it is powered whenever the HU is powered, not only with the Tuner source, as it also turns on the OE amp, and can support another aftermarket amp in addition, as has been done several times with no issues (just don't short the damned thing out).

According to the manual, if you connect this amp to a low-passed signal, signal-sense turn-on may not operate properly. It looks for midrange signals and needs a full-range output.

yes, it fixed the problem.... corner of deck is not really possible....behind the c pillar the ant amp is kinda down low and there is very little slack on the wires when you unbolt the 1 10mm bolt... as a side note i got the tinter to tint the entire car in 5% for $40.....will get the windshield and sunroof done later....
