97' 2.2CL - Mp3 hook up!
so, i have a 97 2.2CL... i'm trying to hook up a mp3 player to play through my car speakers. i've done a bit of research and here's what i know.. i would need a aux input adapter to be hooked up to the back of the stereo deck and then ran through to the front to hook up to my mp3 player.
my questions are: is the factory stereo on a 97 2.2CL capable of having a cd changer? i noticed that one of my buttons, near the cd eject button has very very faint writing on top of it. it looks like it says tape/chang or something to that extent.
if it is capable of having a cd changer, then i would need to purchase this adapter... does brand matter?
is the aux input adapter the only thing i would need to buy for it to work??
does anyone have instructions on how to properly install it?
any help is much appreciated!!!!!!!! thanks in advance

im pretty sure our 97s didnt come with a Bose option so in which case its a regular Alpine unit............ YES it is CD changer compatible via. an Alpine M-Bus connection in the back.............. BUT, im not sure if it will accept an aux input since its not programed for something like that............ but by all means you can try, the part is usually no more than 20 bucks, dunno the part number off the top of my head, but its out there somewhere, you might only find the type with RCA inputs though, that means you'll need another adaptor for the RCAs to go into a regular 3.5mm jack............................... seriously though I say youre better off just buying another deck if you want MP3s and all that
but if you must, all it takes is you buying the ALpine adaptor, taking out the deck fro the dash (I did it so long ago Im at a loss for how I did it) and plugging the adaptor into the port in back........... then its a matter of running the wires where you want them

thanks so much for replying...
so... thats great news that it has the capability for the cd changer. so, i just thought that the aux input adapter would just make it possible to have the zune play through the speakers. i don't think its a big deal to be able to control it from the deck at all. just really want it to play through the speakers without having to use a fm transmitter. or is there something i don't understand about the aux input adapter?
so, are you saying that i would need to buy: a alpine M-Bux connector, an aux input adapter, and a RCA adapter?
i'm getting a little confused, so do you know if you could research pictures of what you're talking about. if not, then just another explanation would be great! thanks again for all your help

the M-bus input is the aux input, basically it plugs into your decks M-bus port, and gives you 2 RCAs to plug into (red/white) from there you get an adaptor that plugs into your new RCAs and into your headphone jack of your Zune......... I mean it wont be the most advanced setup, but it might work
I dont have any pics on it but once you get the parts and the radio taken out it all makes sense
