definitely should go to a shop and make sure they are small enough magnet for your vehicle if size is that important....most of the good names produce sound 6x9 imo

check out the top end audiobahn ones, they are nice...

the web site lists mounting depths.. so measure before you buy.

There is also space between the factory grills in the hat rack and the mounting surface to space most 6#9's up, at least 3/4 of an inch, and maybe a full inch. That should help.

Also, there is some plastic on the speaker covers,in the shape of a ring that mimics the shape of the original 6x9, that can be trimmed off to make more room.

I have had a set of 6-1/2" components mounted on a board the first two years of sound quality.competition with my CL, but removed them entirely this year, opting for only front stage.

Not too many speakers fit back there. I tried putting some Kicker K693s and there is no way those were fitting in there. These magnets are gigantic. So, I just bought a pair of Boston NX97s. They are low profile and look like they will fit perfectly. I got them on Ebay for about $130. I just have to find something to do with these Kickers now.

well you could always make a spacer to fit inder them, and then paint it... but that could be a little too hands on for some people

Boston NX97

Several months ago I also got a pair of Boston NX97 on ebay. They fit with lots of room to spare. And they are a huge improvement over Blose (but what wouldn't be?). Bass is smooth and articulate. I removed the two nice little tweeters in them to use somewhere else and wired in a 4mH coil to keep some of the highs out. And with my Polk DX6 in front the otherwise stock system sounds pretty good. You will need to turn down the bass and treble controls and turn the fader all the way forward to get the most natural sound, since the built-in EQ is what made the original Blose drivers over-achieve in the first place.
