5 channel amp or rewire? es300
years ago back in the early-mid 90's i would typically run about 2000 watts of amps and could kick some ass with the clarity and bass.
fast forward 15 years and i rock a stock system in my old 99 es300. For about two years i have dealt with a bleeding lcd which is common for these cars.
I have found an old alpine from 10 years ago that we had in another car. I decide to use this in my car with a new harness with a new dash kit.
I located each on fleabay for a total of $30, not bad since i already have the head unit.
I know the car has an oem amplifier and i might have feedback from it.
My original hunch was ccorrect. Not only do i have the very slight alt. whine, but i also get a weird squeeling noise when the key is in the acc position. This is new to me.
So looking on the club lexus site, i found a was to bypass the amp, essentialy cutting the wires on the harness and wiring the harness wires to the wires going to the speakers.
Well, it sounds like ass. Since i have 5 speakers,well actually 7. one sub, 2 tweeters and 4 speakers, one in each door.
I obviously had to take the 4 speaker wires from the HU to the 5 wires for the speakers. I had to pair up the fronts so the sub could have its own line.
My question is;
Is there a way i can wire the factory amp to get rid of the squeeling(grounding doesn't work)? or would it be more wise to get an inexpensive 5 channel amp?
I am not planning on replacing the speakers as the car is 11 years old but i am hoping to get 5 more years out of it.
thanks
