4-channel Amp question

4-channel Amp question
i had 2 12" subs hooked to a 4 channel amp in my old car. Now in my tsx i plan on putting only 1 sub and using that same 4-channel amp to power it just as a temp. Will this work without any damage to the amp or sub? Basically it will only be running that 1 sub only, nothing else.

A few amps say that you shouldn't run them with any channels unconnected - but very few say that.
Is your sub a dual voicecoil? If so you can run both channels.
But usually it's not a problem.

will that be too much power? i'm using my factory speakers still
oh yea, and what about the back speakers, to me it would seem like the extra 400 watts would benefit the back speakers than the front. but i'm not to bright when it comes to audio

No it won't be too much power, should make the factory speakers sing. Also I wouldn't amplify the rear speakers. I would definitely amp the fronts, reason being, when you go to a concert where does the majority of the sound come from? The front, so why would you want more volume coming from the rear? Get it?
