so, l have an 03 tls w/navi. everything, with the exception of the navi screen being very dark and difficult to see when cold, operates properly. two questions: #1. when I do use the navi function, the system automatically defaults to the state of California. I have to re-set the the system to my home state of Maryland. is there a way to set the default state to Maryland? #2. I like the the clock screen function, but I don't like the idea of the system running continuously. if I select the "SHUT DOWN" icon, the clock function shuts down as well. my question is, if I leave the clock function "up", is the entire navi system still running in the background? I rarely use the navi, and my concern is that if the entire system is running to support the clock function, than by keeping the clock function on, I am causing the entire system to operate, resulting in unnecessary wear and tear on the entire navi system, plus the power required to operate it, when I'm not actually using it. I have the original navi operation booklet and the two issues in question are not mentioned. a search of this forum as well as the problems and fixes section has not revealed any answers. any guidance would be appreciated.
