Salvaged TL's
Salvaged TL's
Just curious........what has been your experience or anyone that you know on here who have bought salvage (insurance sales) TL's and fixed them up. What type of deal did you get like cost, year of TL, options and what it took to get it on the road? I have been thinking of pulling the trigger on a repossessed or slightly damaged (like hail damage) TL.
when you know the damage, you can take corrective action to fix the damage.
the trouble is unknown damage.
if it were totaled out due to hail, it would be a no brainer to snag it up on the cheap and have PDR work done, but it's all case by case basis.
meaning, you'll have to decide if that one particular car is worth it.
my buddy bought a salvaged TL. it was wrecked in a minor front end collision.
my buddy knew what he was looking at and how to fix it, on the cheap.
he picked up a TL for like $6k and put in maybe another $2-3k to get it road worthy and he still has it to this day. he bought it in like 2010 or '11, right after I bought mine.

justnspace has it bang on ^
If you're looking to flip it, you're gonna have a tough time finding a buyer willing to purchase a salvage title vehicle. You'll probably end up getting lowballed so hard that you might lose money on the vehicle.
If you plan on keeping it and driving the vehicle, then go for it if you're confident enough that the damage is strictly PDR work and touch up work.

Have seen totaled cars repaired and one couldn't tell that it was ever in an accident, but as stated perfectly above, you've got to know what you're doing.
Depending on the price, here's a couple of examples:

I don't have personal experience with this. But if you can get a really good deal and rebuild yourself I would say go for it. At least that way you know exactly what is going into the car.
Personally I'm not a fan of rebuilts die to the fact that there is a body on every corner in the city I live in. Almost every car in the classifieds is a rebuilt and you just don't know what corners have been cut to get it back on the road. I had a mint looking subaru forester xt inspected by subaru and the thing turned out to have just about every issue with it that it could have
