The radio on my 2004 TSX car is acting erratic. When I turn on my car, the radio changes from station to station for about a minute, then it stops at a random radio station. Cerritos Acura stealer is charging me $1500, plus labor to replace! They're crazy thiefs! BTW, my car is out of warranty, since it has 87K miles... Has anyone else had this problem?

 

The radios on the early TSXs (2004 / 5) seem to be fairly failure prone once they've got some use on them. I haven't heard of this specific issue before, but it points to a more serious internal electrical problem. Sadly I think a replacement HU might be the only way, but its hard to know for sure without being there to diagnose it.

Good news is you can usually find them for as little as $150 used on eBay and from junkyards. The swap is fairly straightforward, as long as you're comfortable with peeling off your dash trim, this is a job you can do yourself.
