2003 TL-S: Set on components, need rear speaker advice

Alright Guys, I have a delimma. I'm finally ready to upgrade the stock system in my TL, I've already upgraded the HU and bypassed the amp, so I'm ready to drop in a new set of speakers. I'd like to keep the brands the same, and if possible, use the same series of speakers for the fronts and backs. However, Crutchfield doesn't list any regular 2/3-way speakers compatible for the rear set.

I like the Boston Acoustics SX60's, but I'd like a matching set of 2/3 ways that I can put in the rear doors. The only speakers Crutchfield shows compatible for the rear deck are components and I don't want to tear the doors up to install components. Not to mention I don't care how it sounds in the back as much as I care about the front.

My only requirements is that they install without modification or needing to do any physical modification to the car itself (installing speaker adapters is fine). They also need to have a matching set of components for the front. I'll be using these brackets from Crutchfield.

I'm flexible on money, but I'd like to keep both pairs (front components and rear 2/3-ways) under $400. I'm not concerned about amplifying them right now, however I will be doing that shortly.

I'm currently running a AVIC-Z1, if that matters.

Thanks in advance, I can't wait to get everything installed!

Don't waste a dime of rear speakers - spend the money you would have on better fron speakers, better amp, or better subs.

Personally, I plan on installing Boston Z6's in the front and rear of my TL-S. The z6's come with a mounting bracket so you can mount the tweet above the mid-driver. It's not the optimum setup for these beauts, but it does work and still sounds amazing.

You can usually find a set of these on ebay for ~$600. A bit out of your price range, but well worth it in my opinion.

Also, try looking at a set of Boston Pro6's. They sell for ~$250 on ebay and provide a punchier sound than the reference Z6's. I'm unsure if they have the same tweeter mounting options as the Z6, but it would be worth checking out.

For either of these solutions, I strongly suggest running ~150watts perchannel. (JL Audio 300/2 amp x2). I had this setup in my previous car and damn do the Z6's sound awesome. The Z6's (maybe the Pro6's as well) also allow you to amp the mid-range and tweets separatley so you might also want to consider a pair of JL Audio 300/4 to drive them.

Edit: Based on above post.
Definatley focus on replacing the front speakers first. Get a set of Z6's and a JL 300/2 (or 300/4) amp. The get a nice sub for the trunk. You'll never miss the rear speakers and can always install a set at a later date. I suggest a 12" JL w6v2 and a JL 500/1 amp for the trunk.

I looked at the Pro60's on eBay, and they're definitely in my price range, I also like the fact that I can mount the components together or separately. However it doesn't look like they will fit without any physical modification. Correct me if I'm wrong, but both eBay's compatibility checker as well as Crutchfield shows them as incompatible.

I'm not looking for too much bass, just something that is clear and can get fairly loud if I need it to. That why I went with the SX60's. I'm looking for a clean upgrade to the stock system now that I've bypassed the EQ, I'm probably going to want to replace the stock sub with the low profile kicker one, just so you can get an idea of where I want my sound performance to be. Are there any 2/3-ways that I can fit in the rear?

I just checked Crutchfield and it does list the Boston Pro50s as being compatible.

Edit: Correction, those only seem to fit the front. Most odd. Sorry about that.

So, at this point the recommendation is to not even upgrade the rear speakers at all? Not even to a pair of $99 3-ways? I'm thinking ANY speaker is better than the crap that's in there now...

Nope, just don't use any speaker back there.
