2001 CL & Kenwood DDX7017

DDX7017

Before I pull the trigger on one of these, the stock CL opening, under the factory trim, is just standard double-din, correct? So this guy, plus an install kit shouldn't take any dash modifications to install?

I just got the car, so I've no idea how much room there is behind the dash, but I'm in love with this deck and I think Santa might have to come a little early this year.

I'll search right now, but since there's a factory amp, I'm assuming I'll need some kind of bypass cable. A full system is in the works, but since it's about 11 degrees outside, the rest of the stuff (fabricating enclosures for subs in the trunk, etc) will have to wait until spring.

Any forseeable problems with a double-din unit such as this? Thanks!

Awesome, thanks! Is that a custom dash piece? It looks a bit like a vinyl job.

(Not that it doesn't look good, it looks great - the texture just looks a bit different).

If it's a stock piece, I'd love to know where to get it, if it's a custom job, I'd love to know a price on getting one made.

We actually sell this as a package if you are interested - it's now the DDX8017 w/the custom double din dash kit and wire harness for the car. Those pictures were taken when we had first primered the piece. The finish now matches the factory black finish perfectly - we've done them for several of the members on the forum and I'm sure they will vouch for the finish.

Oh? How much for the package? The deck is $899 here, but depending on the price, I'd be very interested. I'm decent with fabrication myself, but hell, less work is always better if you guys have them ready to roll, and your kit does look very, very clean. Do you happen to have a pic of the finished, painted piece?

Is your kit basically plug and play? I haven't gotten into the wiring at all, but I was under the assumption that there's a cable needed to bypass the factory amp with an aftermarket HU.

Fire me a PM if you'd rather take the discussion there, but I'm very interested. With the freezing weather up here, I don't mind dropping a bit extra to minimize my time spent in my driveway freezing my ass off.

Thanks again.

Edit: I have Navigation as well - not sure if that makes a difference in the dash molding, I don't see why it would, but figured it would be worth mentioning.
