1/0 AWG Power Wire

Is anyone running 1/0 AWG Power wire from battery to the Trunk? If so, where did you go thru the firewall and was is difficult to route the wire thru the side of the car, like under the door pillars, etc? Should I just get the 4 gauge? Planning on running 3 alpine amps.

4 guage is fine for at least 2000 Watts, and if you get any more than that, you will need a new alternator anyway.

2000 Watts??!!? I had checked the wire gauge table vs length and wattage and I thought it had to be something lower.

In the firewall there is something just above the gas pedal, you should see it. yield2k helped me find it

ah, thanks for that link. i was originally going to get 4 gauge but the streetwires website had a calucator that came up with 1/0. I thought "no way", i'm sure they are just wanting to make an extra buck.

1/0 gauge

I'm running 1/0 gauge and have 1400watts rms.. They had to drill a hole through the firewall. It seems to be fine under the interior once you get that rope in there.

My Memphis Belle will put out 1,400 watts in the current config. Although, I never push it that hard. I have 4 awg from the battery straight into the amp. I never have any problems with it.

wtf ... drill a hole? I bought 18ft of 1/0 gauge not knowing i was going to have to do that. I can't find a way other way to get it in. Do you mind taking a pic of where in the firewall they went in (pic form the engine bay side).

Maybe drill the hole bigger for the gromet above the gas peddle? Hopefully I can get a drill in there. This sucks b/c I don't think I can return this wire.
